Lymphedema is a chronic condition where limbs and other body parts become swollen and often impede a person’s independence. Lymphedema is associated with the lymph nodes and the nodes inability to function at an optimal level, thus causing increased fluid retention. Lymphedema often occurs as a result of birth abnormalities, cancers, and surgeries. Lymphedema management includes specialized treatment by a certified therapist, who will effectively decongest the swollen tissues and assist to restore confidence and functional independence in daily activities.
