Our Rehabilitation Department consists of 6 NYS licensed physical therapists and 2 licensed occupational therapist with several years of experience in assisting patients to reach their rehabilitation goals and potential.

Slocum-Dickson Physical Therapy consists of a complete and thorough evaluation of your medical diagnosis by a licensed therapist. Your therapist will design a comprehensive rehabilitative treatment program to assist in the recovery of your disorder. Physical agents and therapeutic exercise will be utilized to prevent and reduce various traumatic, genetic, degenerative, and infectious processes.

The following are various musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders that
we commonly treat: headaches, tendonitis, bursitis, strains, sprains, post-fracture management, balance disorders, gait training, RSD, wound care, Osteoporosis, treatment of various arthritic conditions and Fibromyalgia, Bell's palsy, CVA, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease.

We specialize in the treatment of sports medicine injuries with quick
recovery of the injured athlete for return to competition.

We have two McKenzie certified therapists on staff who specializes in the treatment of various spinal conditions.

Our facility is equipped with a swimming pool for aquatic therapy.

We have a therapist certified in Vestibular Rehabilitation. We evaluate
and treat dizziness and balance disorders.

We have a comprehensive Pulmonary Rehabilitation program for those
suffering from COPD, asthma, emphysema, and other lung disorders.

Foot orthotic fabrication is available.

Slocum-Dickson Occupational/Hand Therapy specializes in the treatment of specific orthopedic and surgical hand, elbow and shoulder pathologies. We specialize in the prevention of cumulative trauma injuries and deformities to the hand caused by arthritic changes.

Through the use of various methods and modalities, occupational therapy treats patients with conditions including, but not limited to: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, crush injuries, DeQuervains disease, Volar Plate injuries, fractures of the hand, wrist and elbow, Ganglionectomy, Trigger Finger, tendon lacerations/transfers, peripheral nerve injuries, Arthroplasty/Arthrodesis, Dupytren's disease, Epicondylectomy/Capsulectomy, and Transposition of the Ulnar Nerve, as well as tennis and golfer's elbow, and various shoulder pathologies.

We also have the availability to assist with return of ADL
(Activities of Daily Living) functioning.

A therapeutic pain management program is available to assist with pain relief and return to functional activity.

Lymphedema treatment and management.

We perform Functional Capacity Evaluation by a therapist highly trained in ergonomics and return to work programs. Work conditioning and work hardening programs available.

Custom hand and elbow splinting is available.


LOW VISION

Low vision is a visual impairment not correctable by standard glasses, contact lenses, medicine, or surgery that interferes with a person’s ability to perform everyday activities.  Our Occupational therapy department offers services for individuals with low vision impairment such as macula degeneration, glaucoma, cataract, or diabetic retinopathy.  Our department is equipped with an ADL room to assist in a person’s return to functional independence.   It offers a comprehensive evaluation of activities of daily living.  Our goal is to provide ADL training to improve safety, and optimize independence at home due to low vision deficits through patient education, adaptive strategies, and adaptive devices.   

WELLNESS PROGRAM


A Wellness Program is now available through the Slocum Dickson Rehabilitation Department The wellness program is designed to help you maintain a healthy

lifestyle as well as maintain the gains that you have made in therapy, in a familiar setting.  The wellness program is $40.00 per month for an individual membership

and $50.00 per month for a family membership. Family members must be living in the same household and be 18 years of age or older. The program includes the therapy pool and all gym equipment. Please feel free to call us with any questions
