My interest in medicine started very early in my life. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 18 months old and as much of a pain as it has been, it has led me to where I am today. I was fortunate to have a great support system in my parents, my brother and my endocrinologist. They not only made me feel more comfortable living with diabetes, but made me want to learn as much as possible and pass that knowledge on to others. After completing my Internal Medicine residency, endocrinology seemed like a perfect fit with my experience in diabetes and love of treating complex problems. The specialty also affords me the time I want to spend with patients to build trust and get to the root of a medical problem.
Spending time with my beautiful wife Rebecca, shopping for antiques (especially medical), watching television shows like Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and the Rookie, trying to learn to cook, staying physically fit, visiting the Adirondacks with Rebecca and the dogs (Pinochle and Banting), and growing vegetables in our home garden.
