I grew up with two pediatrician parents. I remember sitting in my parents’ office as a child looking at the drawings that their patients gave them. I decided that I would like to collect my patient’s drawings someday, and that is what I am doing today. I chose Pediatrics because I am allowed to act silly in front of my young patients. I also chose Pediatrics because it gives me the privilege of watching children grow into young adults. This longevity of care for patients is what makes Pediatrics so satisfying.
My goal as a pediatrician is to be a source of reassurance for parents and their children. Caring for a sick child can be stressful for a parent. During the day and especially during those late nights, parents need not only guidance but also a listening ear and reassurance that they are doing the best thing for their child. I strive to be the type of pediatrician that can put a parent’s mind at ease.
I enjoy being a part of my young patient’s medical journey. Participating in a patient’s care and watching a complicated medical condition become manageable to the point where the child becomes happy, well, and thriving is extremely rewarding.
