Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccine for 6 Month -11 Year Olds

COVID-19 vaccinations are currently available for 6 month-11 year old patients through the Slocum-Dickson Pediatric Department.

Appointments will be scheduled for COVID Clinic Days.
Children who are 6M-5Y will receive Moderna and 5Y-11Y patients will receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine
(as approved by the CDC).

Following a thorough review of studies involving children aged 6 months to 11 years old, the pediatricians at Slocum-Dickson are pleased to announce that we will be offering Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccinse to children who are current patients and between the ages of 6 months and 11 years old.

Please note, we will be scheduling the second dose in our office 3 weeks after the first dose. Keep this in mind when scheduling the first dose.

We kindly suggest you call between the hours of 12 Noon and 4 PM to schedule all COVID-19 Vaccination appointments. This allows us to keep the phone lines open and free for sick child appointments during the busiest hours of the day. Thank you for this consideration.

Are appointments limited?
  • Appointments are only available for current patients between the ages of 6 months and 11 years old.
  • All appointments will be scheduled on specific COVID Clinic days between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM.  We have a very limited number of open availabilities.
  • Due to the strict guidelines for administering this vaccine, your timeliness is extremely important.
  • The second dose appointment will be scheduled for 3 weeks after the first appointment.  Please keep this in mind when scheduling the first dose.
  • Please arrive a few minutes in advance of your appointment and bring your completed consent form.
  • Each child will be monitored for 15 minutes following their vaccination.
  • If you can’t make the available appointment time/day, please go to Vaccines.gov to find another vaccine provider in our area.
What if my child is 12 years old or older?

The 6M-11 year old doses are different than the 12 and up vaccine.  At this time the vaccine for children age 12 and up is not available in our office.  Slocum-Dickson pediatricians believe all children that are eligible for the vaccine should be vaccinated.  They recommend visiting Vaccines.gov to find a vaccine provider in our area.

How do I schedule a vaccine appointment?

For children 6M-11Y (who are current patients), please call our office to schedule an appointment.  We ask that you call between 12 Noon and 4PM to schedule these appointments.  315.798.1551

If our appointment day/times are not convenient for you, or if you have a child that is 12+, please visit Vaccines.gov to find a vaccine provider in our area.

What do we need to bring with us to the appointment?

Please fill out the consent form and bring this with you to your child’s appointment.  If you cannot fill out this form, please arrive early so that you have time to complete this document prior to your appointment time.  Also, bring your ID and insurance cards, just as you would with any doctor’s appointment.

Can I schedule my child's second dose?

Your second dose appointment will automatically be scheduled 3 weeks after the first appointment.  Please keep this in mind when scheduling the first appointment.  Please note these appointments are very limited.

Can I schedule a booster appointment?

The pediatricians at Slocum-Dickson believe every child eligible should receive the booster.  However, at this time, we do not have booster shots available in our office.  Please visit vaccines.gov to schedule a booster shot.

Will my child be observed after the vaccination?

Yes, each child must be observed for 15 minutes following the vaccine.  Please plan ahead for this.

Do I get to pick which vaccine my child receives?

No.  At this time Pfizer-BioNTech will be used for 5-11 year olds and Moderna will be used for 6 month – 5 year old children.
