Custom Total Knee Resurfacing
Custom total knee resurfacing utilizes an implant that is specifically designed and customized for the individual patient. Several weeks prior to surgery, a CT is used to make measurements of the patient’s knee, this provides guidelines for bone cutting. Utilizing the CT data, the surgeon can virtually correct any misalignments and return the knee to its pre-arthritic condition. This procedure allows the surgeon to preserve more of the patient’s healthy bone. Custom total knee resurfacing usually results in a better fitting implant and reduced surgery time. The more accurate fit provided by the custom knee may extend the life of the implant.
